16 Flood Control Pumps in North Jakarta Damaged

The checking of 92 flood control static pumps that spread across 35 pump house locations in North Jakarta has ended, Friday (11/14). From the checking done since Monday (11/10) by joint personnel from the Inspectorate, Jakarta Public Works Department, North Jakarta Water Management Public Works Sub-Department, it is found out that 16 pumps in 9 pump houses are damaged.

From those 16 pumps, five of them are under the management of North Jakarta Water Management Public Works Sub-Department, four managed by Jakarta Public Works Department, and seven handled by Public Works Ministry. Here are the details:
- Five pumps under the management of North Jakarta Water Management Public Works Sub-Department consist of one pump in Sindang Pump House that damaged on its machine axle, two pumps in Pinang Pump House, one pump in Gaya Motor Pump House, and one pump in Bendungan Melayu Pump House that damaged on its turnover valve.
300 Volunteers Get Disaster Preparedness Training- Four pumps managed by Jakarta Public Works Department consist of one pump in Kapuk Pump House I that damaged on its cable connection, one pump in Kapuk Pump House II that its dynamo was burned, and two pumps in Muara Angke Pump House that is totally off and low suction.
- Seven pumps handled by Public Works Ministry consist of three pumps in Pluit Reservoir West Pump House that damaged on their filters thus need a replacement, and the rest four pumps in the middle side pump house of Pluit Reservoir Middle Pump House that are damaged on the pipes and drain valves.
“At this time, one pump in Sindang and one pump in Pinang are being repaired. The repair of the remaining damaged pumps will be done afterwards,” stated Head of Water Resources Facilities and Infrastructures Maintenance Section for North Jakarta Water Management Public Works Sub-Department, Kuryatna Atmadja.
Since the rainfall is not yet too high now, Atmadja continued, until now there has been no impact of the damaged pumps. Even so, his party will accelerate the damaged pumps repair before the peak of rainy season starts.
“We’ll repair them right away. The target is that the repair of all damaged pumps to finish in December,” he said.
